As part of the new partnership between Cardiff University and the University of Waikato, a new research project is looking at the current links between Wales and New Zealand in relation to environmental policy and practice. The project is being led by Prof Gareth Enticott (Cardiff University) and Prof Iain White (University of Waikato). The focus of the research is on how current policy ideas and ideas of good practice are being shared between the two countries, whether it is in relation to climate change, the work of environmental NGOs, the management of landscapes and hazards, food and farming, and/or environmental planning. The project is hoping to help develop new links and find ways of sharing good practice between Wales and New Zealand more effectively.
Anyone working in the environmental and agricultural sectors can contribute to the project by completing a short survey. You can find it here:
English – https://cardiff.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/linkswalesnz
Cymraeg – https://cardiff.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/cymrusn
If you know of anyone working in New Zealand, there is also a version for people working there: https://cardiff.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/linksnzwales
Based on the survey, the project will be organising a workshop in future to help develop links between the two countries. We are also keen to speak to anyone who has worked in New Zealand and returned to Wales, or any New Zealanders working in Wales – please contact us directly.
